Fees and grants

Children are eligible for a grant to pay for 15 hours per week beginning in the term after their third birthday. Click here for a copy of the West Berkshire Council leaflet Free Entitlement of Early Education for 3 and 4 Year Olds. These 15 hours can be used in a number of ways.  For example:
  • Five 3-hour sessions (9am – 12 noon).
  • Three 4-hour sessions (9am – 1pm) and one 3-hour session (9am – 12noon) or
  • Two full days  (9am – 3pm) and one 3-hour session (9am – 12noon)

From September 2014, nationally around 40 per cent of 2-3 year olds will also be eligible for government-funded hours - click here for more information.

In order to supplement this contribution from West Berkshire, a voluntary contribution of £1.45/hour for the funded hours your child or children attend is requested.

Your child is obviously welcome to attend the Pre-school for more than 15 hours per week. These extra hours are charged at £5.90 per hour (for all ages).

Parents will be asked by the Pre-school  to fill in a form at the beginning of each term to state how many sessions they would like to claim, and the Pre-school will claim the grant from West Berkshire Council on their behalf. Parents will then be invoiced for the cost of other hours their child attends the Pre-school along with the supplemental hourly charge.  Fees are invoiced every half-term and half a term in advance.

Please settle these fees promptly, as we rely on these fees to cover our running costs such as staff salaries and rent. If you are unable to meet the cost of fees, please speak to our Treasurer in confidence as there may be sources of help available. Refunds are not available for non-attendance, however unwanted sessions may be swapped between parents at the Lead Teacher’s discretion. We require a half terms’ notice in writing of your child leaving, or fees in lieu of notice will be charged.

Streatley Hill Pre-school also requests an additional per full term voluntary contribution of £35 per student (£20 per sibling). This will be billed at £17.50 per the 1/2 term billing cycle (£10 sibling).

Admissions

Pre-school is open to every family wishing to use it, but we find that the core group are those who are likely to attend Streatley Primary School. Children can first attend the term after their 2nd birthday. (Attending the pre-school will have no bearing on whether your child is successful in attaining a place at Streatley School). You are invited to visit the pre-school and talk to staff and parents before you complete a registration form.
